Following the success of earlier projects across Surrey, TG Escapes were commissioned by Surrey County Council to deliver a new SEND provision at St Matthew’s Primary School in Redhill. The project forms part of the councilβs wider capital investment programme to enhance specialist provision across the county.

To meet growing demand for specialist provision, the college required an additional facility that could accommodate learners who need hoisting or specialist physical support during the day – a need that could not be met within their existing buildings. The new space also supports the collegeβs goal to keep learners local, avoiding the need for costly out-of-county placements while maintaining connections to family and friends.

Allen Edwards Primary School approached TG Escapes in 2021 with the ambition to enhance their Special Educational Needs provision. Initially envisaged as a standalone double classroom, the project evolved into a more integrated and ambitious design that combined SEN teaching spaces with flexible facilities for therapy and community use.
