Sensory-considered as standard
We build acoustic dampening, adjustable and glare-free lighting, visual simplicity and clear sightlines into the design, helping pupils with sensory sensitivities feel calm and able to focus.
Permanent, sensory-considered timber-frame buildings designed around your pupils, your cohort's needs and your school site.

Too many “special needs” classrooms are simply a standard room with a label attached. We take a different starting point. As a UK specialist in biophilic modular education buildings, TG Escapes treats acoustic comfort, adjustable lighting, calm sightlines and safe outdoor access as part of the design from the first sketch, not as add-ons. Each building is permanent and shaped around the sensory, emotional and physical needs of the pupils who will use it. Whether you need a single resource base in a mainstream school or a specialist block for a special school, we design around your cohort, your staff and your duty of care, so pupils have a space that genuinely supports them.

These buildings are judged on pupil outcomes, not just floor area. So we focus on the things a SENCO, head of provision and estates lead actually need: calm environments, sensory control, accessibility and a building that lasts. Here is what that means in practice.
We build acoustic dampening, adjustable and glare-free lighting, visual simplicity and clear sightlines into the design, helping pupils with sensory sensitivities feel calm and able to focus.
We plan circulation, quiet zones and breakout spaces so pupils can self-regulate and step away when they need to, and we design one-to-one support areas into the floor plan.
A genuine 50+ year design life means a real asset on your estate's books, not a hire-and-return cabin. These are timber-frame buildings built to last, not portable units.
Natural light, fresh-air ventilation, views of greenery and easy outdoor access have a calming, focusing effect that benefits all pupils, and can be especially helpful for autistic pupils. Read more about biophilic design and why it matters.
Every building is bespoke. We design for the specific needs in front of us, from sensory rooms and therapy spaces to hygiene rooms, hoists and high-impact robust finishes, and post-16 life-skills spaces like our work skills and enterprise centre at St Joseph's.
Well-insulated and carbon neutral for regulated energy as standard, these classrooms are comfortable year-round and cost less to run, which matters on a tight high-needs budget. See our Inclusive Learning Hub concept for a SEND-specific example.
We have designed and built over 250 education buildings since 2003, and over 800 buildings UK-wide, with significant experience in special schools and SEN provision within mainstream settings. We have delivered spaces for pupils with autism (ASD), ADHD, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, visual impairment, multi-sensory impairment, speech, language and communication needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs, such as our eco SEMH building at Mountfield Heath. At Woking High School, our SEND hub for visually impaired students took the school from 12 to 20 places. That experience matters, because SEN provision is unforgiving of generic design: the wrong acoustics, lighting or layout can cause real distress, while the right ones help pupils settle and learn.

one fixed price, planning to handover
You tell us about your cohort, their needs and your site. We carry out a free consultation and survey, listening to staff, and where appropriate pupils, about how the space will be used. By the end of this stage, you have a clear, shared brief.
You share priorities such as sensory rooms, quiet zones, hygiene facilities or therapy spaces. Our in-house architects produce a bespoke design and a fixed upfront price. By the end of this stage, your team has a costed scheme to put before governors or commissioners.
You confirm your funding route. We provide designs to strengthen bids and handle planning permission, acting as principal designer and principal contractor. By the end of this stage, you have approvals in place and a clear path to delivery, including Section 106 routes where developer contributions apply.
You carry on teaching while we build. We precision-make your timber frames and insulated panels in our Coventry workshop under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, in parallel with groundworks on site. By the end of this stage, your building is ready to install with minimal time on your grounds.
You agree a delivery schedule that fits your timetable. We prepare foundations suited to your ground, then deliver and assemble the building, working sensitively in live school environments. By the end of this stage, the structure is weathertight and on site.
You prepare to move pupils in. We complete services, finishes and fittings, then hand over a fully finished, ready-to-use building backed by our warranties. By the end of this stage, your pupils have a calm, complete classroom to learn in.

Our experience of working with TG Escapes and their team of trades people was genuinely a pleasure, and five (or six!) star rated throughout. From our first contact it was clear that the whole organisation is professional, friendly, personable and has a "can do" approach to finding and providing solutions. The quality of their build and workmanship is first class and our eight month build process was Project Managed extremely well, with great communication throughout and a seamless handover on time and in budget.
