Our Modular Halls For Sports and Dining
From compact dining halls to full-sized sports areas and performance-ready studios, modular buildings are ideal for creating a range of halls for schools and other locations. Across 21 years of award-winning work, TG Escapes have built a number of modular halls, with a bespoke design process and in-house installation and finishing.
Modular sports halls
Whether it’s for PE lessons, team sports, or community use, we work closely with clients to understand their requirements for the space, from flooring and lighting to storage and equipment needs. Our in-house architects strive to incorporate biophilic design principles into our buildings whenever possible, prioritising natural light and excellent ventilation, while also promoting simple access to the outdoors. All of these elements offer numerous benefits during exercise.
Thanks to the flexibility of our panelised system, they can also include integrated changing rooms, offering a full solution for schools. Built using sustainable timber and designed to complement the surrounding environment, our buildings are attractive, durable, and energy-efficient.
Modular dining halls

Our modular dining hall at Trinity Catholic College
Our team has helped schools across the UK create welcoming, comfortable dining areas for their students, working around their headcount and available space. In dining halls, a large, comfortable and well-ventilated space is crucial, alongside a cooking area if needed.
Our modular dining hall at Trinity Catholic College
Trinity Catholic College wanted a space where students could eat, relax, and socialise. Our team delivered a bespoke 600sqm modular dining hall, completed in just five months with minimal disruption to the school. The building offered a multifunctional space tailored to the college’s needs, helping to foster a sense of community for students.

Combining a kitchen and dining hall

We built a stylish, multi-use canteen for St Bernard’s Grammar School
Our team can also deliver modular halls that include both dining areas and kitchen facilities. As part of our turnkey service, we manage every aspect of the project, from the design and build of the structure to the fitting of kitchen equipment, cold stores, and food preparation areas.
- Barfield Prep School: Barfield Prep School required a purpose-built dining facility after decades of using a sports hall for meals. We delivered a beautiful new dining hall with a full-height glazed frontage offering panoramic views and natural light, creating a calm and pleasant space for pupils. The building included a fully equipped commercial kitchen, cold and dry stores, a pot wash area, an office, and a plant room. It also features a covered veranda for after-school prep. We earned 5* feedback for minimal disruption, clear communication, and a professional service that stayed on time and within budget.
- St Bernard’s Grammar School: St Bernard’s wanted a new canteen to accommodate their growing student body, and were drawn to the distinctive, contemporary style of our buildings. Their new modular canteen was completed on schedule, with staff finding our team highly professional and easy to work with. The finished facility is a major improvement on the school’s previous canteen, offering flexible use outside of meal service times. The modular approach also meant reduced disruption during construction, an important factor for the client.
Modular studios for dance, drama, and music
In addition to halls for dining and sport, TG Escapes also design modular studios tailored for performing arts, including dance, drama, and music. These spaces are purpose-built to support creative learning, with considerations for acoustics, lighting, ventilation, and flexible layouts.
Our modular dance studio at Hendon School

Our dance studies for Hendon School
Hendon School required a new, high-quality space to support their thriving dance and drama departments. With ageing facilities and a limited budget, TG Escapes delivered a cost-effective yet stylish modular building housing twin studios. The project was partly funded through the CIF scheme, with TG Escapes assisting the school and their consultants in crafting a successful application. Our modular design ensured a fast, efficient six-month build with minimal disruption. The result was a bright, spacious environment that inspired creativity, praised by both staff and students as a transformative space for performance and learning.

Designing bespoke modular halls
Every school is different, and at TG Escapes, we take the time to understand the specific needs of each client. Whether it’s a hall for dining, sports, or performing arts, our team works on a customised design that fits the school, the site, and their budget.
Our buildings are constructed from timber frames and panels, with a fabric-first approach, helping us to achieve net zero in operation as standard. For larger-span halls, we may incorporate steel elements for additional structural support, though we avoid this wherever possible. Once the modular hall design is approved, we manage the entire project through a fully turnkey process, from initial planning to the final handover.
