This sports pavilion with changing rooms is a key element of the new community facilities, officially named The Arc, being developed by Homes England within Brookleigh at Burgess Hill. The new Centre for Outdoor Sports has been delivered by Mid Sussex District Council and their development partner Alliance Leisure, procured via the UK Leisure Framework (managed by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd). The wider project team also included The Sports Consultancy, AtkinsRealis, Hadron Consulting, S&C Slatters and White Horse Contracting.

To meet growing demand for specialist provision, the college required an additional facility that could accommodate learners who need hoisting or specialist physical support during the day – a need that could not be met within their existing buildings. The new space also supports the collegeโ€™s goal to keep learners local, avoiding the need for costly out-of-county placements while maintaining connections to family and friends.

Initially envisaged as a standalone double classroom, the project evolved into a more integrated and ambitious design that combined SEN teaching spaces with flexible facilities for therapy and community use.

Changing facilities at Edgeborough School

This modular timber frame building features two spacious changing rooms, each accommodating up to 54 pupils aged 9-13, complete with showers, toilets, and essential storage spaces. A large, sleek canopy seamlessly connects the new building to the existing sports hall, offering covered access in all weather conditions and much-needed storage for PE equipment.
