TG Escapes support STEM week with design competition at High School Leckhampton
Congratulations to Key Stage 3 students Tom Carron & Eric Shannon for their winning designs in our Outdoor Learning Centre Design Competition.
At TG Escapes we understand how important sustainability and the environment is becoming for young people. To that end, we are always happy to support our education customers to bring sustainable construction into the classroom. This complements our tree-planting program for schools.
Last week saw the completion of just such a project undertaken with the High School Leckhampton.
We kicked this off last year with a design workshop run by our chief engineer Chris Leese during which we launched a design competition. The challenge was to design a sustainable outdoor learning centre.
The entries were judged, and during STEM Week 2023 Chris gave a talk about potential career paths into the construction industry, and the winners were awarded their certificates. Big congratulations to Tom Carron & Eric Shannon for their winning entry.
The judges were impressed with their ideas and the TG Escapes design team enjoyed bringing the ideas to life with architectural visualisations.
Our relationship with HSL started in 2020 when it became clear that their new school building development wouldnβt be ready in time for their first intake arriving in September 2021. To accommodate the new pupils, neighbouring school Balcarras offered to provide the space for a modular eco-building to accommodate 120 year 7 students in 4 classrooms as well as offices for staff. You can read more in our two-storey modular school eco-building case study featuring 360 walkthrough and timelapse video.
