Celebrating 21 years in the modular building sector, we have put together 21 stories that highlight some of our achievements and milestones over the last two decades.
The stories that have defined our first 21 years
2024 marks our 21st birthday, an amazing achievement we share with our entire team, some of whom have been here from the very beginning. To celebrate, we’ve looked back on 21 of the key stories that define our first two decades, from our initial educational building to our recent awards triumphs, and some special projects that stood out along the way. We can’t wait to see what the next 21 years holds.
2003
Our first building
Today we’re renowned for our award-winning educational buildings, but we initially produced garden rooms, installing our first project in 2003.
2007
Our first commercial project
For our first commercial project, we contributed a beautiful VIP area to the newly reopened O2 in London.
2009
Our first educational project
In 2009, we completed our first educational project, not realising that this would soon become our primary industry.
2011
Our 500th building
This biophilic classroom for young children was our 500th completed building, showcasing the speed and efficiency of our modular system.
2012
Our first 2-storey building
Thanks to continuing advancements in our modular system, we were able to complete our first 2-storey building at Woolwich Poly school in 2012.
2015
Our first SEND buildings
In 2015 our team completed their first two SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) buildings at Pengwern College and Darwin School, showing us how profoundly our biophilic approach benefits students with specialist needs.

Beautiful eco-classrooms at Bickley Park
We loved this eco classroom at Bickley Park Nursery, offering tons of outdoor space for learning and play. Bickley Park was so pleased, they hired us for another building in 2017.
2016
SEND space at Swalcliffe Performing Arts
It’s amazing to see the positive changes our buildings can bring to young people, with this performing arts studio giving teenagers with specialist needs a great place to develop music, drama, and dance skills.
2018
We start in-house production
Moving our production in-house allowed an even greater degree of customisation, and was also invaluable during the COVID pandemic.
2019
Huge performance space at Hendon Dance and Drama Studios
We created a fantastic performance space for Hendon Dance and Drama Studio, assisting them in securing CIF funding to obtain the necessary budget.
2019
We introduce our tree-planting scheme
Our collaboration with EcoMatcher offers schools an amazing opportunity to learn and engage with sustainability, using an app that allows students to engage with environmental issues and adopt newly planted trees.
2020
We finish our first A+-rated building
Our state-of-the-art net zero building for Samuel Ryder Academy was our first project to achieve an A+ rating for energy performance. Today, we specify our buildings to net zero as standard.
2021
TG Escapes wins Contractor of the Year at Education Estates
We were honoured to win “Contractor of the Year” at the 2021 Education Estates Awards. The award showcased the huge strides we’d made as a company and our commitment to quality at every level.

Stylish sports pavilion at Winnersh Triangle
We contributed to the leisure facilities at Winnersh Triangle Business Park, adding a stylish sports pavilion that blended perfectly with the green spaces and outdoor access.

Our SEND enterprise centre at St Joseph’s Specialist Trust
One of our most visually striking buildings, this multipurpose space for St Joseph’s Specialist Trust doubled as classrooms and workshops, achieving net zero in operation.
2022
Our first SEMH Building for Mountfield Heath
We built our first SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties) building for Mountfield Heath in 2022, carefully tailored to the needs of the students.
2023
TG Escapes achieves two wins at the MMC Awards
In 2023, we were thrilled to win twice at the Modern Methods of Construction Awards, taking home “Project of the Year” and “Public Sector Innovation of the Year”.
2023
Post-16 SEND space at Sir Charles Parsons
Our team loved this project, our second for Sir Charles Parsons School, catering to teenagers with various additional needs. Follow the link to see the amazing video students made for us.
2024
10 classroom SEND block at Beacon Hill
One of the most ambitious projects for our 21st anniversary is the 10-classroom SEND block at Beacon Hill, showcasing how far we’ve grown and the fantastic bespoke solutions we offer to all clients.

Send hub for the visually impaired at Woking High School
This project required our team to navigate a challenging site to provide a bespoke learning space to students with visual impairments, additionally reaching net zero in operation.
